Naomi, Rachel and I had the privilege of sharing a stage with
Peggy Seeger last month in Oxford during our Three Acres And A Cow show at House of the Commons.
Carry Greenham home and Hey Ho Cooke and Rowe, sharing her personal memories of the Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp as well as joining us for our rendition of Ewan Maccoll’s The Manchester Rambler about the Kinder Scout mass trespass of 1932.
Since reading Peter Cox’s amazing book
Set Into Song, Peggy has been one of my idols, so to meet and perform with her was a delight.
So I should probably be starting to hibernate by now but the year has thrown up a little flurry of winter gigs in Essex, Oxford and Crouch End. I will be performing with Chance and Candy on violin and backing vocals respectively..
The Essex show on Friday 6th December is for a much loved promoter who books me for gigs in libraries, gardens, town centres and …this time …the local RAF Club… awesome. More info
Then Saturday 14th December at a beautiful old pavilion surrounded by green in Oxford – info
<here> ***please note this show has been postponed to 2014***
…and finally on Sunday 15th December this lovely weekly event in Crouch End – info
Wow, that was the best musical experience of my life.
We just cycled from Bath to Oxford gigging on the way with stop offs in Bristol and Swindon – pure unadulterated joy.
Pedal Folk, the cycling music tour I am doing late April is now all sorted and we will be ending our two wheeled jaunt by performing at Folk Weekend Oxford which I am super excited about.
I will be playing with Tim Graham and Katie Stone Lonergan on Sunday 21st April at Cafe 1071 at 3pm. There may be bubbly to celebrate the end of the tour.
